The department is responsible for the followings:
i) Ensure proper prevention and control of Major Livestock and Poultry Diseases in the State
ii) To ensure the availability of Veterinary surgical and clinical services across the State
iii) Proper diagnosis of Livestock and Poultry Diseases
iv) Protect the public from consumption of diseased and contaminated meat.
v) Provide environment friendly livestock market and control Post.
vi) Ensure Good Quality Hides and Skins for both Local Industries and Exports
