Special projects Agriculture arose from the agric vision of His Excellency the executive governor of Kano
state Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso upon taking office in 2011 when he said "Our agriculture cannot move forward
until we install community-based, private sector-driven commodity support mechanism in rural & urban areas
that empowers smallholder farmers with practical skills in value addition, quality assurance, marketing, ICT
deployment as well as extension & research communication and women & youths are the focal community". Special
projects were approved by the state executive council for implementing under offices of special assistants attached
to the ministry of agriculture. The projects are pragmatic, have short term implementation strategy and exhibit tangible

2. Kwankwasiyya Grain Pre-cleaning Mini Factory
1. Commodity Support Centre (CSC)
CSC is community-based, private sector-driven rural resource facility that provides smallholder
farmers with practical skills in agribusiness to enhance their capacity and capability for profitable agribusiness
performance. Pilot CSC was established on vegetables in Bunkure local government area that is now under the management
and control of Bunkure Agricultural Commodity Traders Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
Bunkure commodity support centre consists of an administrative office, meeting room and a farmers
shop for retailing farm inputs frequently used by the local farming community.
Village level mini factory under management and control by local farmers cooperative for pre-cleaning value
addition to grain farm produce such as millet, sorghum, rice, maize, beans, wheat etc. The pre-cleaning activity
involves use of mechanical machine for the process of removing sand, plant debris and any other foreign matter from
grain farm produce. The purpose is to achieve quality food grain that is safe to use and fetches better market price.
The pre leaning mini factory is established in each of the 44 local government areas of the state.
3. Moringa Farmer Field School
Moringa Farmer Field School (FFS) is located at Bichi town in Bichi local government area. It is a commercial
demonstration for Moringa farmers to train
and learn modern agronomic practices for Moringa seed production and intensive Moringa leaf cultivation.
