    About the Department of Agricultural Services, Produce Inspection, Pest Control and Fisheries

    Mission: To improve agricultural productivity, production and storage through provision of improved inputs as well as rendering technical support services to the crops and fisheries sub-sector.
    Vision: A well established sustainable farming systems that contributes to the economic development of Kano State.

    The Agricultural Services Department is made up of three Divisions namely Crops; Produce Inspection, and Fisheries Divisions, with each division headed by a Deputy Director. The divisions on the other hand compose of sections as follows: -

    A. Crops Division:
    i) Industrial Crops, and Farmers’ Associations Sections (Groundnut, Cotton, Maize, Young Farmers' Clubs, Farmers Associations);
    ii) Seed Multiplication and Irrigation Schemes sector (Bagauda, Kadawa, Bunkure, Jarman Baka, Gaya); and
    iii) Fertilizer Section.

    B. Produce Inspection Division:
    i) Produce Section (Grains Buffer Reserve);
    ii) Pest Control Section (Pest Control Services, Dawanau market).

    C. Fisheries Division:
    i) Government Seed Multiplication Farm (Bagauda, Challawa);
    ii) Artisanal Fisheries (Dams and reservoirs).
